Provably Fair, Explained: How Crypto Casinos Prove Games Aren’t Rigged
Ever wondered if an online casino game is actually random? Provably fair technology lets you verify every result yourself with cryptography. Here is how seeds, hashes and verification work — in plain English.
"How do I know the game isn't rigged?" is the first honest question every online player asks. On traditional casinos you simply trust the operator. On modern crypto casinos, you don't have to — provably fair technology lets you mathematically verify that a result was decided before you bet, and couldn't be changed afterwards.
The three ingredients
- Server seed: a secret random string the casino generates for your round. You only see a hashed (scrambled) version up front.
- Client seed: a random string from your browser that you control and can change.
- Nonce: a counter that ticks up with each bet, so every result is unique.
Why the hash matters
Before you play, the casino shows you a hash of the server seed. A hash is a one-way fingerprint: it's easy to produce from the seed, but practically impossible to reverse. Because you hold that fingerprint before betting, the casino is locked in — it can't swap the seed to change your outcome without the fingerprint no longer matching.
How a result is produced
When the round resolves, the game combines the server seed, your client seed and the nonce, hashes them together, and converts that output into the game outcome (a dice roll, a crash multiplier, a card). It's deterministic: the same three inputs always produce the same result.
Verifying it yourself
After a round, the casino reveals the original server seed. You then do two checks: hash the revealed seed and confirm it matches the fingerprint you were shown earlier, then re-run the seed + client seed + nonce through the public algorithm and confirm it reproduces the exact result you got. Most provably fair casinos include a built-in verifier, and independent tools exist too.
What it does and doesn’t guarantee
Provably fair proves a result wasn't tampered with — it does not change the house edge. The math still favours the casino over time; fairness and profitability are two different things. Rotate your client seed whenever you like for extra peace of mind.
Play, verify, and earn
Whether you're spinning originals or slots under code TGZZ, your play builds wager milestones and climbs the leaderboard. Verify the fairness, then let the rewards stack.
